Storylines: The Sox enter a six-game, seven-day trip in last place in the American League Central. The Blue Jays are tied for last in the AL East with the Orioles, whom the Sox beat in three of four games this week at home. It will be Shields’ first start since April 16 after he spent two months on the disabled list with a strained right lat.

Trending: Avisail Garcia is on an eight-game hitting streak (14-for-31) and Jose Abreu has reached base in 12 straight games. Quintana is 0-4 with a 6.51 ERA over his last seven starts, but in eight career starts against the Blue Jays, he is 5-2 with a 1.67 ERA. Blue Jays closer Roberto Osuna is 17-for-20 on saves with a 2.77 ERA, but all three blown saves were in April.
